Biography of James L. Lyons

Ennis, Texas

James Lyons was a sergeant in the U.S. Army. He entered the Army in January of 1942, and trained in Mineral Wells, Texas, and served on Guadalcanal, New Georgia, Bougainville and Luzon He died on February 11, 1945 on Luzon. 

James was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Hurley of Ennis.

He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Presidential Citation and the Purple Heart Medal.

He is listed on the Memorial Monument to Ennis War Dead and the Ellis County Veterans Memorial.
