Biography of Alvin L. Deeds

Onward, Texas

Alvin Deeds was a first lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps. He served with the 353rd Fighter Group in Europe as a fighter pilot, and flew a P-51, an outstanding fighter plane referred to by many as “the Cadillac of the sky.” On December 5, 1944 while flying his 38th Combat Mission, he was shot down over Berlin.

He was born on November 1, 1917, and reared west of Ovilla in the Onward Community. He attended public school in Midlothian. A granite cenotaph stands on the family lot in Midlothian Cemetery in memory of Lt. Deeds. He is listed on the Ellis County Veterans Memorial.
