Biography of David Earl Craig

Midlothian, Texas

David Craig was a seaman 2nd class in the United States Navy. He joined the Navy on December 15, 1917. He received training at the United States Naval Training Station at Great Lakes, Illinois. While in training, during the month of September in 1918, he contacted influenza that developed into pneumonia from which he died on October 1, 1918 in the Naval Hospital in Great Lakes, Illinois.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Craig of Midlothian. He was born on January 26, 1894 in Leon County, Texas. He is buried beside his brother Charles, who died from pneumonia while serving with the Army in France on October 7, 1918. They are buried in St. Paul Cemetery west of Midlothian. David is listed on the Ellis County Veterans Memorial.
