Baylor University Football 1940

The Baylor University football squad for 1940 was led by Head Coach Morley Jennings in his 15th season at Baylor. Jack is number 25 in the front row seventh from the left.

The enlargement clearly shows Jack, number 25 in the front row, and Robert Cole "Bob" Nelson, number 62  in the second row. Bob and Jack were roommate for the four-years they were at Baylor. Bob was an All-American center for the Bears, and drafted in the 5th round by the Detroit Lions in the Western Division of the National Football League.

Jack earned NEA All-American honorable mention in 1939, and All-Southwest Conference honors in 1940. He signed with the New York Football Giants of the National Football League before leaving Baylor University at the end of the spring quarter.
