Reception Following Memorial Day Service and Medal of Honor Presentation on May 30, 1946

Jack died on Iwo Jima March 8, 1945 and posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. He was one of two players in the National Football League to be awarded the Nation's highest award.

First Lieutenant Jack Lummus' mother Laura displays a double frame containing pictures of her son's fiancée Ethlyn "Skipper" Bookwalter and Jack. In her left hand is the satin-lined box contains the Purple Heart Medal posthumously awarded to Jack on June 7, 1945.
